The Story Behind the Story of Screenwriting with Meg LeFauve and Lorien McKenna

Join Boston College Film Studies Professor, Mary Conroy for an open conversation with two industry screenwriters, Meg LeFauve And Lorien McKenna. Each week they host the top-rated podcast, The Screenwriting Life with Meg LeFauve and Lorien McKenna. Together they bring years of experience, passion, and a love/hate relationship with the craft of screenwriting. They know the business and they know their craft. During this open panel, you are invited to ask questions and really get to know the story behind the story of screenwriting.

Meg LeFauve.  Screenwriter / Based in Los Angeles, California

Meg LeFauve was nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar for the Pixar blockbuster INSIDE OUT, LeFauve won an Annie Award for that screenplay. She also wrote Pixar’s Golden Globe-nominated THE GOOD DINOSAUR. LeFauve currently has a series in development for Peacock Channel as well as the animated film MY FATHER’S DRAGON in production for Netflix at Cartoon Saloon. She also wrote on Marvel’s box office hit, CAPTAIN MARVEL.

Lorien McKenna.  Screenwriter / Based in Los Angeles, California

Lorien McKenna is a Screenwriter. She set up TV projects at Hulu, NBC, and Netflix. She was the Co-EP for the CURIOUS GEORGE series and has developed several animated TV projects for Disney Jr. She also wrote the feature HOW TO SET A FIRE AND WHY, based on the book of the same name by Jesse Ball. McKenna is a former Story Manager at Pixar Animation Studios where she worked on the features UP, BRAVE, INSIDE OUT, and THE GOOD DINOSAUR. She also served as the Associate Producer for Paramount Animation’s WONDER PARK.

Join Institute Of Contemporary Art / Boston's Teen Fast Forward Program in conversation with Colin Trevorrow about writing and directing, his early years writing in Hollywood and his journey in the industry. The event is led by ICA Teens and includes a live audience Q&A.

Colin Trevorrow. Writer, Director, Producer / Based in London, England

Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow re-launched the Jurassic franchise with the smash hit,  Jurassic World, which he directed and co-wrote. The Universal release is the highest-grossing summer film in box office history. Trevorrow is currently in post-production on Jurassic World Dominion, the third chapter in the JW trilogy, which he has directed and produced. The film, set for release June 10, 2022, was co-written by Coin and Emily Carmichael.  Previously, he directed Battle at Big Rock, a short film for the Jurassic franchise; The Book of Henry, for Focus Features starring Naomi Watts; and the indie hit  Safety Not Guaranteed, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at  Sundance.

Casey Affleck. Producer, Director, Writer, Academy Award Winning Actor / Based in Los Angeles, CA

An academy award winner, Casey has established himself as a striking performer, known for his ability to convey internal conflict. Casey is also principal of Sea Change Media, a production company with the goal of developing new works from emerging filmmakers of diverse backgrounds, telling stories that aim to entertain. Outside of the entertainment world, Casey is involved in a number of charitable causes, including PETA, Stories From Tomorrow, and New Earth.
